Managing Push Notifications

Push notifications keep you updated on important events. Customize them to match your workflow without getting overwhelmed.

Default Notifications

By default, ANVL sends push notifications for: new messages from clients, job status changes, payment received, invoice reminders, and new marketplace opportunities. These keep you informed without constantly checking the app.

Types of Notifications

Messages: You receive a notification each time a client messages you. Jobs: Status changes or assignment changes trigger notifications. Payments: Payment received or payment due reminders. Proposals: Client approved or declined your proposal. Marketplace: New job matching your trade and location. Reminders: Follow-up reminders, appointment reminders.

Customizing Notifications

Go to Settings > Notifications in the app. You see all notification types with toggles. Turn off what you don't need; keep critical notifications on. Example: Turn off "Proposal Status" if you don't want notifications when clients decline, but keep "Payment Received" on because that's important.

Notification Frequency

Some notifications can be batched: receive one notification per hour instead of one for every message. This prevents notification overwhelm. Set frequency in Settings: Real-time, Hourly, or Quiet Hours (limit notifications during certain times).

Quiet Hours

Set quiet hours (e.g., 8 PM - 8 AM) when you don't want notifications. Critical notifications (urgent payment issues) still come through. Non-critical notifications (new marketplace leads) wait until quiet hours end. This prevents work from invading your personal time.

Sound and Vibration

Customize notification sounds and vibration patterns. Choose from default sounds or custom tones. Vibration options: light buzz, strong vibration, or silent. Some notifications can have unique sounds so you know the type without looking.

Notification Badges

The ANVL app icon shows a badge (number) indicating unread items: 3 unread messages, 2 pending proposals, etc. This gives you a quick glance at what needs attention without opening the app. Clear the badge by opening the app.

Do Not Disturb Integration

On iOS, ANVL respects your Do Not Disturb settings. On Android, notifications follow your phone's Do Not Disturb mode. If your phone is silenced, ANVL notifications are silent (unless you set exceptions in settings).

Notification Privacy

For privacy, notifications show only essential info: "New message from John" not the message content. If you want to see the full message in the notification preview, enable this in Settings > Privacy. This balance protects privacy while keeping you informed.

Email vs. Push Notifications

You can receive notifications both ways: push (instant alert on your phone) and email (summary email). Set preferences separately. Many contractors use push for urgent items (messages, payments) and email for non-urgent (marketplace leads, reminders).

Marketplace Notifications

When homeowners request quotes matching your trade/location, you get a notification. These are time-sensitive—contractors who respond within hours get chosen more often. You might want these notifications even during quiet hours; customize accordingly.

Disabling All Notifications

You can turn off all push notifications in Settings > Notifications > Disable All. This is drastic—you'll miss important updates. Email notifications can still keep you informed, or just check the app regularly.

Notification Troubleshooting

If you're not receiving notifications: check Settings > Notifications that relevant types are enabled, verify your phone's notification settings for ANVL app, make sure the app can send notifications (iOS: Settings > Notifications > ANVL), and check your internet connection. Push notifications require internet connectivity.
