AI-Powered Mockups
Using AI-Powered Mockups to Win More Jobs
Showing clients what their project will look like before work begins dramatically increases job approvals. ANVL's AI mockup feature generates realistic visualizations from photos, helping clients see your vision.
What are AI Mockups?
AI mockups are photorealistic visualizations of your proposed work. Upload a before photo, describe the changes (new paint color, kitchen remodel, landscape design), and AI generates an after image showing what the finished work will look like. It's like a high-tech before/after preview.
Supported Trades
AI mockups work best for visual trades: painting, landscaping, kitchen/bathroom remodels, flooring, exterior work, roofing, and siding. Any trade where clients care about the visual outcome benefits from mockups. Trades like plumbing or electrical (less visual) use mockups less often.
How to Generate a Mockup
In a job, click "Generate Mockup". Upload a clear before photo from good lighting. Write a detailed description of the work: "Paint this wall sage green, replace the light fixture with modern brushed brass, refinish the hardwood floor." Be specific—the more detail, the better the result.
Tips for Best Results
Take clear, well-lit photos of the space from a stable angle. Show the full scope of work in the photo. Describe colors, styles, and materials specifically: "Benjamin Moore "Healing Aloe" instead of just "green." Include dimensions if relevant: "Add 3 feet to the deck." The more detail you provide, the better the AI understands your vision.
Reviewing Mockups
Once generated, review the mockup. If it doesn't match your vision, regenerate with adjusted descriptions. You can request multiple versions to show the client different options. The process takes 30-60 seconds per image.
Using Mockups to Close Sales
Include mockups in your proposals. Show the homeowner exactly what their finished project will look like. This dramatically increases confidence in your estimate and approval rates. Many contractors report 30-40% higher closing rates with mockups.
Variations and Options
Generate multiple versions to show options: "Option A: Paint accent wall sage green" vs. "Option B: Paint entire room sage green." Clients love seeing choices. It gives them control and makes them feel involved in the design process.
Limitations and Accuracy
AI mockups are visualizations, not guarantees. Complex structural changes (moving walls, adding rooms) aren't accurate. The color and style representation is approximate—actual paint or materials may vary slightly. Use mockups to show vision, not to promise exact results.
Photo Considerations
Lighting in the photo affects the mockup. If the before photo is dark or poorly lit, the mockup may be less accurate. Professional lighting or daytime shots produce better results. Straight-on photos work better than wide angles.
Saving and Organizing Mockups
Each mockup is saved to the job. You can download the image for your files or to email separately. Keep mockups organized with the job record for reference and marketing later.
Copyright and Usage
You own the mockup images you generate. Use them in proposals, portfolios, and marketing materials. You can't sell them or use them without the homeowner's permission, but they're your creative tool.
Pricing Mockups
Mockup generation is included in most ANVL plans. You can generate unlimited mockups. Some contractors charge homeowners a small design fee ($50-$100) if they're requesting many variations, but most include mockups in their service.
